A) GUIDED INDUSTRIAL TRAINING (GIT) IN INTEGRATED CIRCUIT (IC) DESIGN

Guided Industrial Training (GIT) in Integrated Circuit (IC) Design is a dedicated internship program developed by Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) together with IC Microsystems Sdn Bhd (ICmic), a leading Malaysian IC design company.

Integrated Circuit Design (IC Design) is one of the key areas in Mechatronic , Electrical and Electronic Engineering. This area of expertise could potentially provide a big number of job opportunities for graduates.

ICmic has provided to various IPTA selected by MOHE the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Technology Computer Aided Design (TCAD) tools thus facilitating the students to get early exposure to the usage of these industry standard design software.

During the placement, students are exposed to step-by-step approach in IC Design technique, based on proven commercial IC design process developed by ICmic. They are assigned to on-job modules in IC Design. ICmic has developed extensive on-job modules providing opportunity for strong exposure to various IC Design technologies.

Objectives:

>> Create a pool of talent in the IC Design industry

>> To increase graduates competency in the IC design field

>> To provide hands on and practical training in EDA (Electronic Design Automation) and TCAD (Technology Computer-Aided Design) tools

>> To provide Guided Industrial Training for students

>> To provide training, research opportunities and learning experience in the IC design field

Implementation:

  • Industrial training will be given at the training center in Cyberjaya
  • EDA (Electronic Design Automation) and TCAD (Technology Computer-Aided Design) software will be used
  • Duration of training is up to 3 months. The modules are in the forms of:
    1. Building Blocks in Digital IC Design, Analog IC Design and Mixed-Signal IC Deisgn.
    2. IC Product Scoping

      1. Digital
      2. Analog
      3. Mixed-Signals
    1. IC Fabrication Process & Device Characterization using Technology Computer Aided Design (TCAD)
    • 160 participants will be trained in 5 years
      (Total is 800 participants)
    • Allowance will be provided
