The Government of Malaysia has set up four Malay Studies Chairs at four universities at the international level. The Chair can be defined as a professorial post. The main mission to set up the Chair is to enhance the world community’s awareness of Malay culture. Among the main objectives for setting up the Chair at a particular university are:

1. To obtain the expertise of a Professor or renown individual in his/her field of study; and
   
2. To conduct research and its findings can be applied by responsible authority to improve the socio-economic level and the study of the related fields.
